IPC64/19 MS-DOS STARTER KIT - HOST LINK
The development environment for your DOS- based embedded applications consist of two PC- compatible computer systems. One system is your Windows 95 based desktop PC (Host), the other system is the IPC64/19 Flat Panel PC (Target). With the LPT parallel port of each system, the systems are connected using the standard LabLink III interface cable shipped with the IPC64/19 MS-DOS Starter Kit. Over this LPT port parallel connection, you can transfer files from the desktop PC (Host) drives to the IPC64/19 2.5" hard disk drive (Target) and back. You donīt need a floppy disk drive for software installation on the SSV IPC64/19 Flat Panel PC.

Please connect the LabLink III interface cable to the LPT port of your desktop PC (the Host). This port is a 25- pin SUB-D male connector on your desktop PC. On the IPC64/19 side, the LabLink III interface cable of the IPC64/19 MS-DOS Starter Kit must be connected to the CP/486DX1 PC/104 single board computer LPT parallel port (the Target). The parallel signals of the CP/486DX1 LPT port are wired to a 26- pin connector. The IPC64/19 MS-DOS Starter Kit offers a 26- pin ribbon cable with a 25- pin female SUB-D connector on one end. This cable is the LPT port I/F cable.

Connect the LPT port I/F cable with the CP/486DX1 LPT port. Please note: Before installing the LPT port I/F cable, touch a metal case (i.e. the metal case of your desktop computer) with your hand to reduce any static electricity that might have build up while handling the IPC64/19. Then connect the LabLink III I/F cable with the LPT port I/F cable of the CP/486DX1.

The basic software components for the file transfer from the desktop PC (Host) to the IPC64/19 Flat Panel PC (Target) are the good old MS-DOS programs INTERSVR and INTERLNK. For the host system, you need INTERSVR.EXE and for the target system INTERLNK.EXE. The IPC64/19 (Target) 2.5" hard disk drive with the Win95 setup is ready for this INTERSVR - INTERLNK connection. INTERLNK.EXE is installed on the 2.5" hard disk drive.

The host part for the INTERSVR - INTERLNK connection, the program INTERSVR.EXE is shipped on a 3.5" floppy disk within the IPC64/19 MS-DOS Starter Kit. Please install this floppy disk on the desktop PC. The label text of the 3.5" floppy disk is SUPPORT DISK - IPC64/19 STARTER KIT - MICROSOFT WINDOWS 95 - HOST PART. Please note: This Support Disk is the same for the IPC64/19 MS-DOS Starter Kit and for the IPC64/19 Windows 95 Starter Kit. For installing the disk, please open a DOS box on your Windows 95 based desktop PC and run the batch file INSTALL.BAT on the floppy disk. Download the Host Part Support Disk - 127.294 bytes WinZip file, see also "w95skhp.zip - More Information".

After running INSTALL.BAT on your desktop PC, you will find a subdirectory with the name \host on your desktop PC hard disk. Please start the program INTERSVR.EXE in this subdirectory with the Windows Explorer. Then (re)boot the IPC64/19 Flat Panel PC. The desktop PC (Host) offers now remote drives for the IPC64/19 Flat Panel PC (Target). The next figure shows more details.
