SBC/WCE1 SINGLE BOARD COMPUTER FOR WINDOWS CE
The SSV SBC/WCE1 provides a 486- based complete high performance 32- bit PC/AT-based embedded single board computer (SBC) for the Microsoft Windows CE 2.x operating system. The SBC/WCE1 is booting Windows CE 2.x direct from onboard FLASH memory. The SBC/WCE1 donīt need mechanical disk drives for running the Microsoft operating system and Win32- based applications. With the Microsoft Windows CE Embedded Toolkit (EDK), a user can build the Windows CE binary image on a Windows NT 4.0- based workstation and load this image to the SBC/WCE1 FLASH memory. The binary image contains all the components of Windows CE and the application- specific files (i.e. the Win32- based application program).

There is a growing class of 80x86- based embedded applications that lie between the dedicated controller with no user interface and the system controller with a full graphic user interface and storage capabilitys. These applications often require a specialized user interface that is optimized for an special environment and minimal resources compared to current desktop operating systems. For these applications, Microsoft Windows CE and the SBC/WCE1 provides a well- defined solution. The SBC/WCE1 can work without any user interface or with SVGA- based full graphic user interface on LCD panel displays or CRT monitors.
