PC/104 MULTIFUNCTION I/O CIO5-PC/104

The CIO5-PC/104 is a multifunction I/O board with an keyboard scanner for a 8 * 8 keyboard matrix interface with up to 64 keys, LCD interface for text and small graphics displays, two RS232C serial ports and a 128 Kbyte CMOS SRAM solid state disk (expandable to 640 Kbyte) with backup battery for PC/104 expandable embedded systems.

The serial ports are jumper selectable to COM1, COM2, COM3 or COM4. The keyboard scanner is based on Microchip´s PIC 16C57 microcontroller. The 16C57 includes the interface for the 8 * 8 matrix and an interface for a external PC/XT or PC/AT keyboard (keyboard wedge function). Over an utility connector, the 16C57 is connected with the Host CPU keyboard interface. Data from the external keyboard and from the matrix keyboard are controlled by the 16C57 and transmitted to the Host CPU.

The LCD interface is I/O port mapped requiring 8 contiguous addresses. This interface offers one LCD DATA PORT and one LCD CONTROL PORT. The I/O base address is jumper selectable to 308h or 318h. The CMOS SRAM SSD needs a 32 Kbyte memory window and a 32 byte I/O window. The memory window base address is jumper selectable to 32 Kbyte boundarys such as D0000h, D8000h, E0000h or E8000h. The I/O window base address is jumper selectable to the I/O addresses 300h, 320h, 340h or 360h.

The CIO5 offers connectors for 8-bit (J1) or 16-bit PC/104 (J1/J2), serial port COMa (RS232C), serial port COMb (RS232C), text/graphic LCD, power, external PC/XT or PC/AT keyboard, and the keyboard matrix. Over the connectors UTILITY I or UTILITY II, the PC/104 CPU keyboard interface is connected with the CIO5 keyboard scanner.

Please Note: The CIO5 is available in a "stackthrough" or "non- stackthrough" version with 8-bit or 16-bit PC/104 connector. The non- stackthrough version can be the base board for an standalone PC/104 stack.
