PC/104 CAN FIELD BUS INTERFACE CAN1-PC/104
The CAN1-PC/104 is a low-cost, high-performance CAN interface board for PC/104 expandable embedded systems. Mounted in a stackable 8/16- bit PC/104 module this CAN interface provides access to the wide range of CAN applications for PC/104 systems.

The CAN1-PC/104 board is based upon the Philips BASIC CAN controller 82C200 or the Intel BASIC/FULL CAN controller 82527 chip. The 82C200 supports the standard message frames in CAN specification 2.0 part A. The 82C200 has the capability to transmit, receive, and perform message filtering on standard message frames with a 11- bit message identifier.

The 82527 support the standard and extended message frames in CAN specification 2.0 part B. It has the capability to transmit, receive, and perform message filtering on extended message frames with a 29- bit message identifier. Due to the backward compatible nature of CAN specification 2.0, the 82527 also fully supports the standard message frames in CAN specification 2.0 part A.

The CAN1-PC/104 is an intelligent CAN interface board with an own 80C31 microcontroller (Intel 8051 code compatible). The 80C31 uses a local bus for access the CAN controller chips 82C200 or 82527. The interface between the 80C31 and the PC/104 bus is build with an high-speed dual port RAM (DPR). This DPR offers a 1 Kbyte buffer memory with interrupt request lines to the PC/104 bus and the 80C31 microcontroller (see also CAN1 block diagram).

The CAN1 offers connectors for 8-bit (J1) or 16-bit PC/104 (J1/J2), CAN1 and CAN2 (RS485 or ISO/DIS CAN field bus interfaces), digital I/O lines from 80C31 microcontroller and from 82527 CAN controller and one DEBUG PORT with the 80C31 serial interface.
