The VGA1-PC/104 is based upon the Cirrus Logic GD6235 LCD VGA controller. It offers true packed- pixel addressing, color expansion for 8 bit- per- pixel graphics, and hardware cursor, thus improving Microsoft Windows performance. Other incorporated Cirrus Logic GD6235 features, such as memory write buffers and internal asynchronous display data FIFOs also boost performance. The Cirrus Logic GD6235 is fully compatible with the IBM VGA graphics standard at the register, gate, and BIOS levels. An onboard 512 Kbyte RAM (256K * 16 bits) provides the video memory for the Cirrus Logic GD6235. One 32 Kbyte PROM contains the VGA BIOS extension.
The VGA1 hardware and the onboard VGA BIOS extension PROM offers panel power management support. One important feature of the hardware power management support is the Backlight Power Switch. With this switch, the software can turn the panel CFL backlight on and off. The VGA BIOS offers three power save modes: standby mode, suspend mode, and backlight control mode. Standby mode is an automatic power save feature. Suspend mode provides the lowest power consumption. The backlight power down mode supports the Backlight Power Switch. This mode can be entered immediately by a BIOS function call or by a timer.
The VGA1 offers connectors for 8-bit (J1) or 16-bit PC/104 (J1/J2) in stackthrough or non- stackthrough version. The LCD panel signals are wired to a 40- pin connector. A 10- pin connector provides the VGA CRT signals. We offer a cable for this connector with a standard VGA monitor connector on the other end. For LCD panel backlight power down, the VGA1 offers two connectors: backlight power in (CFL POWER IN) and backlight power out (CFL POWER OUT). With a 2- pin power in connector, the VGA1 can supply the PC/104 stack with +5 VDC. This connector is wired direct to J1/J2. Two other connectors offers LCD panel contrast and backlight control.
